What to expect from your assessment

1-min summary

An assessment for ADHD, autism or AuDHD is a structured clinical process designed to understand how your brain processes attention, behaviour, emotion and sensory information. The aim is not simply to determine whether you meet diagnostic criteria, but to provide clarity about patterns that may have been present for many years.

The process usually begins with questionnaires that explore areas such as focus, organisation, impulsivity, emotional regulation and social experience. You may also be asked about your early development, including school, behaviour and communication, as neurodevelopmental conditions begin in childhood even if they were not recognised at the time.

The assessment itself is a guided conversation with a specialist clinician. You will be asked about real examples from work, education, relationships and daily life. There are no right or wrong answers, and you are not being tested. The purpose is to build a clear and accurate picture of your experiences.

After the assessment, you will receive an outcome, which may include a diagnosis or a detailed explanation of your profile, along with practical recommendations for next steps and ongoing support.
